ultrasound, 10 wks
our baby

Yes... if you haven't heard, we're expecting our first child! We're very excited and praise our Lord for this new life that He has created. God says in the Bible, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.." (Jer. 1:5).  And in Psalms 127 He says, "Behold, children are a gift of the Lord; The fruit of the womb is a reward."  We feel blessed by God, and truly are.

Although blessed, Bekah is still feeling nauseous. It has gotten better though--she's 16 weeks as of June 16th. She "sleeps" about 11 hours a night, including the 8 trips to the bathroom. Thankfully, she's no longer working her 9 - 5 job at the Advocate.

We hope to paint the babies room orangish-tangerinish, and "accessorize" with green, light purples, maybe magenta. We hope to use a lot of our 'horticulture' pictures in decorating...sort of a "nature" type theme. We know, it's not exactly Noah's ark, but we think a natural/new life theme will be fitting and fun.

We haven't settled on any names, and are not going to find out the make of the babe.

Here are a couple more ultrasounds at 10 weeks:

If you are wondering what the baby still needs, we are registered at Babies R Us (in stores and online). Junior will be living in style! Bekah had a fun time at the shower.

updates   - most recent first -

05 Dec 2004   It's 40 weeks today! No babe yet - but we have more pictures.

02 Nov 2004   The words of the lullaby (stenciling) are now complete. Thanks, Mendy!

29 Oct 2004   Robert finished painting the baby's room! Now Bekah wants to stencil a border--a lullaby her mom used to sing to her. The lullaby fits our "nature" theme: "Rock me to sleep in a cradle of leaves; sing me a lullaby of trees; tuck a cloud up under my chin; Lord, blow the moon out, please."

22 Oct 2004   And now... what you've all been waiting for... pictures of Bekah!

14 Oct 2004   At almost 33 weeks, Bekah measured "34 weeks" at her midwife visit today; this means that the baby grew 7 cm in one month! This is good, because last month he/she measured two weeks behind. Even so, we know that God is growing the baby in His timing.

29 Aug 2004   We're coming up on the 27th week of pregnancy.

14 Aug 2004   Bekah realized for the first time that what she thought to be the baby's excellent rhythm was actually the hiccups.

06 Aug 2004   All's well. The baby continues to grow, which is apparent by looking at Bekah's belly!

31 Jul 2004   Bekah has no normal clothes that fit anymore, not even her baggy college clothes.

19 Jul 2004   Bekah noticed what were possibly the official "hard kicks," after which the baby is supposed to be born 20 weeks later. This would mean labor would begin Monday, 06 Dec 2004.

16 Jul 2004   Bekah is really beginning to "show." Maybe she can be coaxed into a picture soon!

22 Jun 2004   Robert felt the baby "thumping" for the first time. Actually, it was more like "gentle poking."

20 Jun 2004   Bekah felt the baby "thumping" for the first time. (Robert only got to hear about it.)
